Mr. Letter A Fair Share Of Troublemakers Essay - 1393 Words

Mr. Bobbitt, like many teachers, has his fair share of troublemakers. One young white boy in particular has a difficult time listening and creates disruptions in class. When I arrive at the school, I bring the first graders down to music with Mr. Mac. It is here where I see the disciplinary domain emerge. Whenever this young boy starts acting up Mr. Mac will ask him to sit out in the hall and take a quick break. The boy refuses, however, and will sit with this head down. Then, as soon as Mr. Mac walks away, a smile of satisfaction crosses the boy’s face. He knows he has gotten away with his bad behavior once again. A young girl of color, on the other hand, who also disrupts the class, goes straight to the hall when Mr. Mac asks her to leave. â€Å"In seemingly color-blind contexts, social institutions need ways to move people to their assigned places (discipline them) using rules that are racially neutral† (Hill-Collins 66). By allowing the young boy to get away with his behaviors, Mr. Mac is showing him it is okay to act in disrespectful ways and as a result his behavior continues. The young girl, on the other hand, is disciplined and loses class time as a result of her actions. Both children should be given equal punishment for their actions regardless of whether they want to sit in the hall or not. Hopefully new disciplinary actions will be put in place for the young boy and girl. Past research has demonstrated that there exists a connection between smiling and physical attractiveness. A smiling person was perceived as more intelligent and could create in the perceiver a warmer feeling than a nonsmiling person. This study evaluates whether smiling vs. not smiling and rater’s gender have an effect on attractiveness ratings of a male and a female dating profile. Furthermore, it predicts that there will be a main effect of smiling on the ratings of both, male and female dating profiles. Moreover, it also predicts that there will be an interaction of rater’s gender and smiling for the female profile. However, the results did not support this statement, there was not a main effect of rater’s gender on any of the dating profiles. Both profiles male and female, were better rated when the person was smiling. Indicating that people prefer smiling over the non-smiling faces. On the other hand, no interaction was observed between rater’s gende rs and smiling for male and female profile. Introduction Previous researchers have concentrated on the effect of smiling on physical attractiveness. Reis, et al., (2010) conducted a research by using 15 males and 15 females neutral and smiling photos of each subject that served as a stimulus to 50 females and 50 males college students. The cloud providing companies can change their service scale as the computing users need to. Those companies can scale up and scale down their services to the users as their recommendation. In this system, the users have to pay only for the resource service provided by the company according to their workload recommendation (Cusumano, 2010). A great advantage of this system is that one can get any type of software for the different types of jobs whenever needed. These are the most important benefits of the cloud computing system but there are some issues on the use of the system. The work progresses can be controlled by the end user but the data storage control will be in the hand of the cloud provider. In this system all the information are stored in the server of the cloud provider (Peiris, Balachandran and Sharma, 2010). Delivering the IT power of software as per the need of users is getting more popularity in the recent years. Large companies in the field of software and internet technologies like Amazon, Google and Microsoft are providing the software through the cloud computing. This system is very good if the users have a lot of money. The founder of free software foundation Richard Stallman said that the cloud computing is trap. The reason behind this statement is the cloud computing system is forcing people to use the paid software and the cost will increase over the time. It is better to store the personal information in personal computers rather than the third party software. Operating an own copy of software is better than using a software platform provided by any third party. Own copy of software provides freedom of maintain the personal data with security.
